Genes & Society (an ethical debate)

There are two teams, each consisting of four or five speakers.

Each team has two or three constructive speeches, and two to three rebuttal speeches. The affirmative gives the first constructive speech (the arguement for), and the rebuttals gives the negative speech (the arguement against). The round will proceed in this manner, affirmative, negative , affirmative, negative , affirmative. The affirmative has both the first and last speeches of the debate.

During the speech, you may (1) present your arguement and also (2) question the opposite team (3) answer the questions thrown to you.

Make sure each group has 5 members except group 7

group 1&2 will prepare for statement 1

group 3&4 will prepare for statement 2

group 5&6 will prepare for statement 3

group 7 will look through all statements and make sure they are well adapted for all statements.

Statement 1: DNA modification should be more readily available for us to create the best human race possible. (group 1 will be affirmative and group 2 will be rebuttals.)

Statement 2: We can use individual's DNA code to identify criminals at a young age and arrest them before they commit the crime. (group 3 will be affirmative and group 4 will be rebuttals.)

Statement 3: Genetically modified food is the way to solve world hunger. (group 5 will be affirmative and group 6 will be rebuttals.)

Group 7 will be judging alongside me so do prepare for all 3 statements.
