Setting

• Physical - where the action is taking place. Can be general (a forest) or specific (London, England).

• Chronological - time when the action is taking place. Can also be general (summer) or specific (Tuesday, March 15, 1987).

Characterization

• Direct characterization is when the author tells you what the character is like through narration.

• Indirect characterization is when the author shows you what the character is like through STEAL . . .

Theme

• The lesson learned by the reader in the end.

• THE MEssage of the story.
