There are two types of verbs in English

  • Action Verbs

  • Verbs of doing physical things that we can see. Example : play, eat, study, work, and etc.

  • Stative Verbs

  • Verbs that show the state/feeling. Example : know, believe, like, love, hate, remember, suppose, understand, want, wish etc.

3

Differences?

There is an important difference between action verbs and stative verbs. Action verbs can have both simple and continuous forms.

Stative verbs, on the other hand, DO NOT normally have continuous forms.
