Most masculine nouns end in the letter o

Examples: libro-book, carro-car, zapato-shoe

Masculine nouns end in the consonants –n, -r, and –l

Examples: corazon-heart, doctor-doctor, actor-actor, paste-cakel, celular-cellphone, pan-bread

Feminine Nouns usually end in the letter a

Examples: casa-house, carta-letter, bolsa-bag

Some feminine nouns also end in the letter

Examples: amistad-friendship, caridad-charity, pared-wall

Some feminine nouns also ends in –ción-sión and -iz

Examples: cancion-song, mission-mission, actriz-actress

Add -s at the of the word when it ends with a vowel. 

Examples: carro-carros, bicicleta-bicicletas

Add -es if the word ends in a consonant

Examples: voz-voces, pez-peces

In Spanish, adjectives must agree with the noun they describe in gender and in number. This means that if the noun an adjective describes is feminine, the adjective must be feminine, and if that same noun is also plural, the adjective will be feminine AND plural as well.

Adjectives in spanish are placed after the noun.
