Multiplying whole numbers

So, to start off with, we will be learning how to multiply these two numbers. 2x8. Our first way we can multiply the two numbers is to simply use our simple addition. All multiplcation is, is a way of adding and/or skip counting. So this would read as 8, two times. So lets add 8 plus 8 to make it 8 two times. So now our answer is 16. So, in conclusion, 2x8 or 8x2 equals 16.

Another way you can get whats called the product, is by skip counting. Skip counting is almost the exact same thing as addition. So lets take a different multiplecation problem now, and lets do 4x3. So, lets skip count using o0ut 4's. So, 4,8,12. Would be us skip counting. So, this means that 4x3 or 4 three times, would equal 12.
