How to turn an active sentence to passive

6 steps

Step 1

Identify the subject, the verb and the object

Andreas ate the cake

Step 2

Move the object to become the subject of the sentence

Step 3

Check the active sentence, what is the verb tense in the active sentence?

ate = past simple

Step 4

Use the verb "be" in the same tense as the active sentence

The cake was

Step 5

Add the past participle of the main verb after "be"

The cake was eaten

Step 6

Add the sublect of the active sentence in the end with the word "by"

The cake was eaten by Andreas

Example

Active voice: Andreas ate the cake

Passive Voice: The cake was eaten by Andreas

Read the active voice sentences and turn them into passive voice
