Populations always will increase in size.
People entering - People leaving = Your Population
Emigrate = Leave; Immigrate = to to Enter

Depends on:
Number of children, adults, and elderly present.
But also, how many resources are available.
The more children AND Adults, the more rapid a population grows.

Carrying Capacity Concerns
We all require resources to live...
The lesser a population density is, the more abundant the resources are.
Which allows a population to grow!
