Chapter 3

The next morning, Nick receives an invitation to Gatsby's party

But, no one has ever received a formal invitation to Gatsby's party before.

That's strange, isn't it?

As Nick is making his way to the party, he runs into Jordan Baker

Nick and Jordan go to look for the host - Gatsby

They enter Gatsby's library but find another man instead

Nick describes this man as an "owl-eyed man"

After a while of searching for Gatsby, Jordan and Nick decided to just enjoy the party

A man approaches Nick and tells him he recognizes him from the war

This man that Nick just met is Gatsby

Gatsby's butler asked Jordan to follow him because Gatsby wanted to speak to her

Jordan is surprised because she was not expecting this

Jordan is not allowed to tell anyone what she and Gatsby talked about

But we will know soon enough!

After Jordan leaves, Nick goes to speak to Gatsby and apologizes for not recognizing him when he first saw him

After chatting for some time, Gatsby invites Nick to go on his hydroplane the following day

Gatsby receives a phone call and has to say goodbye to Nick
