Objective

Students will be able to create a polynomial function given the zeros.

Prerequisite Knowledge

• Multiply Polynomials

• Operations with Square Roots

• Operations with Imaginary Numbers

• Understand zeros that are square roots and imaginary numbers.

Vocabulary

Zero(s) - where the function equals the value of zero; x-intercept.

How to find the polynomial function given the zeros:

• Step 1: Set each value equal to x.

• Step 2: Using inverse operation, move the numeric value to the left side of the equation.

• Step 3: Multiply the binomials.  

• Step 4: Set equal to f(x).

Example #1.  Write a polynomial function given the zeros: 6 and -4.

Example #2.  Write a polynomial function given the zeros: 0, 5, and -1.
