Proportional relationships can have either a positive or negative slope.

"When x is 0, y be your hero!"

Perfect squares like $\sqrt{4}$  =2 give you a Rational Number. But square roots like  $\sqrt{3}$  give you Irrational numbers because the decimal goes on forever with no pattern.

Because the exponent is "-3" that tells us that the number is small, and we need to move the decimal 3 places to the left to get Standard Notation: .00798

To be proportional, a graph needs to:

1. Go through the origin.

2. Be linear (a straight line)

Capital B always stands for "area of the base". To use a formula that has B, you'll need to find B first.

Ex: Volume of a Cylinder = Bh, where B stands for Area of the Base (circle)

"Preserving Congruence" means that the figure stays the same size/shape.

Dilation DOES NOT preserve congruence since it changes the size.

To be a function, the y-values can repeat, but the x-values CANNOT repeat.

"One input (x) for every output (y)"
