Every paragraph has a topic and a main idea

Topic: one or two words. To identify the topic, ask "What is this paragraph about?"..... The topic repeats in the paragraph

Main Idea: short sentence. To identify the main idea, ask "What is the most important idea in this paragraph?"

The main idea is often the first sentence or last sentence in a paragraph

1. My sister, Megumi is very popular. Everyone likes her. Why? For one thing, she is very outgoing. She laughs a lot, and she tells jokes. She makes people happy. For these reasons, my sister has a lot of friends.

2. Christiano Ronaldo is a famous soccer player. He is from Portugal. He plays for a soccer team in Spain. The team is called Real Madrid.
