Imperial Units of Mass
Mass: A measure of how much matter is in an object (how heavy or light).
Ounce (oz.): The smallest imperial Unit of mass. Commonly used to measure the mass of small items (stack of coins, candy bar, slice of cheese).
Pound (lb.): Used to measure the mass of large items ( weight of a baby, bag of apples, pair of shoes)
Stone: Used to measure the mass of very large items ( car, gorilla, furniture).

Conversion of Units
When converting between units: You first need to know how much of the smaller unit makes one for the larger unit
Ounce is the smallest unit of mass. 16 ounces = 1 pound. 224 ounces = 1 stone
when converting from ounce to pounds; you divide by 16
when converting from pound to ounces; you multiply by 16
