Sejarah Masjid Ulul Azmi

Masjid bukan sekadar tempat sujud. Sebagaimana makna harfiahnya. Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi, pakar kebudayaan Islam asal Palestina, mencatat, sejak zaman Nabi Muhammad, 14 abad silam, masjid punya ragam fungsi. Tidak hanya tempat ritual murni (ibadah mahdah): seperti salat dan iktikaf. Komplek masjid juga jadi pusat pemerintahan, markas militer, sentra pendidikan, bahkan ruang tawanan perang.
