an organization or business that does not obtain money
these organizations are often funded by donations, grants and other subsidies
they are often used to help people in need but that is not always the case

Charity
Charities are exempt from paying taxe
The money obtained through donations and other sums goes to other causes.
The charity will withhold a small amount of donation money in order to keep the program running.

Non-Profit Organizations
Non-profits do not need to operate exclusively for charitable purposes.
They can operate for social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure, sport, recreation or any other purpose except for profit.
