We use "did not" or "didn’t" to make negative sentences in simple past form.
S + didn´t + verb in infinitive
I didn´t do my homework.

In the NEGATIVE form there is no difference between REGULAR and IRREGULAR verbs.
We use did not or didn’t with the infinitive of the main verb:
didn´t play (regular v)
didn´t eat (irregular v)
