Two major ways we learned how to use quotations: titles and direct quotes
Direct Quotes: Exactly what someone says
Titles for short works: poems, songs, book chapters, newspaper articles, television episodes
NOT for books, movies, television shows

How to Add Quotation Marks
Put quotation marks around the beginning and end of a quote.
Ex: Henry said "Derick can't come to the party tonight." <---See how the quotation marks are on both sides of the quote?
Periods and commas often go inside the quotation marks. BUT there are exceptions to this.
Where can direct quotes go? Anywhere, beginning, middle or end of the sentence. Quotes can also be broken up by unquoted words.
Ex: Henry said "Derick can't come to the party tonight." <--End
"Dean hates dogs," Coby muttered. <--beginning
"I'm not going home yet," Erica said smugly, "I don't care what mom says." <--Beginning and end

More Quotation Marks Stuff
When do I capitalize? When you put the entire quote, capitalize the first letter.
Ex: Marcus looked at me, "You're always trying to find yourself in other people."
When you only use a piece of the quote, don't capitalize the first letter.
Ex: Marcus told me I'm always trying to "find myself in other people."
