6.5 Negative Words

Negative words tell more about verbs and are considered adverbs.

not (before a verb)
not (in a contraction)
never (before a verb)

Examples:

The classroom was not clean.
He didn't empty the trash.
She never mops the floor.

Be careful not to include 2 negative words in a sentence.

He never not liked the dentist.
He never liked the dentist.
He did not like the dentist.
