Industrial Revolution Recap

• Starting in England, the Industrial Revolution was the process by which machines were created in order to more work faster, to produce more goods.

• People moved from rural to Urban areas, as more jobs became industrial as opposed to agricultural.

Europe from 1815-1914

• Countries wanted to avoid another French Revolution/Napoleon.

• Waves of revolution and reform modernized European countries.

• Several countries unified, Italy and Germany specifically.

• Generally, life overall improved.

So why did World War One happen?

• There is no single cause for the outbreak of World War One.

• Many factors contributed in different, combined ways to create a scenario that allowed war to break out.

• These are called the MAIN Causes.

So how did all of these combine to cause WWI?

• Any of the causes individually could have led to a single war between different countries, but because so many were involved in so many different ways, all it took was an important incident to give the countries an opportunity to go to war.

• Even then, war was almost avoided.
