What are properties of matter
Solid, liquid, and gas
2
What is solid
A solid is a a property of matter that keeps it's shape. The molecules in the solid state of matter, is tightly packed together making the shape firm. An example of this is ice, a water bottle, a book, and a wall.
3
What is liquid
Liquid takes the shape of it's container. This is because it's molecules are not squeezed together and are not too far apart. Here are some examples of liquid. Water, oil, lotion, coffee, and honey. Fun fact: You can freeze water and make it ice!
4
What is a gas
A gas doesn't have a shape and volume. This is because is molecules are spread far apart. However, it still takes up space. One example, blow air into a balloon 1. Leave no air in balloon 2. Stick the 2 balloons on a broomstick and stick the broomstick to a tree or a piece of wood. Observe the balloons. Examples of gasses are, oxygen and nitrogen.
