Simple Past (Regular verbs)

Do we use the past tense to talk about something that started and finished at a definite time in the past?

If your verb ends in e, do you add ed or only d?

if your verb ends in VOWEL + Y (play), do you only add ed? played?

if your verb ends in consonant + y, do you delete the y and change it for an i? study..?

Do we double the last consonant when the verb ends in C + V + C and is one syllable? stop...?

Do we double the last consonant if the verb is 2 syllables and the stress is in the last syllable? prefer?
