What is clay?

• ​Clay is a material made from the earth

• ​It can be found anywhere there is water

• ​It is malleable when wet

Ceramic Clay

• Is found anywhere there is water

• Must be kept damp

• Needs a kiln to be fired

• Fires to a glass-like finish

Polymer Clay

• Flexible, colorful "plastic"

• Needs to be "fired" in order to harden, but is sometimes still flexible

• Never dries out (but may become harder to use)

• May be harder to work with, but is more accessible
