Banneker’s grandmother was an indentured servant from England who, after completing the term of her contract, bought some land and then married a freed slave.

It would be correct to write "She bought some land..." so the answer is WHO.

WHO = he, she, they

WHOM = him, her, them

He had dismantled a pocket watch borrowed from a traveling merchant, made detailed drawings of its components, and returned it—fully functioning—to the merchant.

The components belong to the watch so we need the possessive its.

It's represents a contraction of it is.

Its' is not a word.

Watch is singular, and their is plural.

Banneker quickly became engrossed in his studies and began to calculate the paths of the Sun, Moon, and other celestial bodies. Using these calculations, he predicted a solar eclipse that occurred the next year.

Remember ACT values precision. Replace pronouns with specific nouns when possible.

Most kayaks are made of rubberized cloth, molded plastic, or fiberglass. They are covered except for the opening in which the paddler or paddlers sit.

The pronoun refers back to "kayaks" so it needs to be plural: they are instead of it is.
