Bacterial infections are caused by bacteria and viral infections are caused by viruses. What most people forget is that the common flu is in fact a viral infection.

People who have the flu often believe they need antibiotics to cure the illness, but this is not true! Antibiotics are not very effective at battling against viral infections, but are very good with bacterial ones.

However, studies have shown that you should not consume too many antibiotics. This is because this type of medication kills both good and bad bacteria in your body and actually weakens your immune system!
