Division Story Problems

SWBAT interpret the remainder in division problems with 3-digit dividends.

KP 1:  In story problems, the remainder represents the leftover from the total amount that you were splitting into equal groups.

KP 2: We need to consider what the remainder means in the story before we decide how to answer the question in the story problem. 

KP 3: The quotient in a division problem might not be the exact answer every time because the remainder can change the answer to the question.

I have 16 cookies—I want to put these cookies into bags with 3 in each bag.

Jill is reading her new chapter book. She wants to read 6 pages every night before she goes to bed. How many nights will it take her to finish the book if there are 275 pages in the book?

Rasheeda has 469 marbles in her collection that she wants to put into different jars. She has 5 jars, and wants to put the same amount in each jar. Does Rasheeda have enough jars to fit all of her marbles? Explain how you know.
