PAST SIMPLE VS PAST CONTINUOUS

We use the simple past to talk about events that finished in the past.

We use regular and irregular verbs to talk about positive sentences

EXAMPLE

I went to NY last year

I visited my neighbor yesterday

For negative and Questions sentences we use the auxiliary DID not / DID

EXAMPLES

I did not forget our date

I didn't grow in Mexico

DID you send your homework?

DID you forbid your friend?

What did you write in the last question?

Where did you get the cotton candy?

For negative and questions we're going to use the negative and question form of BE in past.

EXAMPLES

I wasn't sleeping

We weren't working

Was she playing outside?

Were you studying for the exam?

yesterday, when I was alone at home, I was in the kitchen, I was preparing a sandwich for dinner when suddenly the TV turned on. Then I heard a strange noise in the garden. I decided to go out and check what was happening. But when I was walking to the door, the dog barked and jumped at me. It wasn't any special sound it just was my dog biting the remote control.
