Crafting a Strong Thesis Statement

A persuasive essay is a type of writing using logic, evidence and arguments to convince readers of your point of view.

In literary analysis, you make a claim by creating a THESIS STATEMENT and you support it with text evidence. You show your thinking in a sequential manner, helping the reader make sense of your argument with the goal of persuading them to accept your claim/thesis.

Think of an opinion you have about FOOD that is debatable, but you can provide evidence for.

For example: Water Chestnuts are disgusting.

Water Chestnuts

(Water Chestnuts) are disgusting.

Water chestnuts are disgusting because they are horrifyingly crunchy, tasteless, and lack nutritional value.
