INTRODUCTION
Ask learners what happens when they stir sugar into tea.
Where does the sugar go? Does it disappear, or is it still in the tea, but not visible?
Explain that, when they stir the sugar into the tea, they are making a solution.

Solutions
Some materials can dissolve in water or other liquids.
Solution is a mixture usually made of a solid dissolved in a liquid.
You cannot see the solute in a solution after it has dissolved. The particles of the solute move in between the solvent particles when they dissolve.

Components of solutions
Solutions always have two parts.
A). Solute- the material that is dissolved.
examples are sugar, salt, oxygen
B). Solvent- the liquid in which the solute dissolves. Examples are water, milk, ethanol, acetone
