Simple past tense adalah kalimat tenses yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau dan telah berakhir di masa lampau. Berbeda dengan past continous tense, yakni menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau, namun masih terjadi di masa sekarang

To be : was untuk She, He, I dan It

Were untuk You, They, We

Verb : Menggunakan kata kerja bentuk kedua (Regular/Irregular verb)

Ada 2 jenis kata kerja dalam Past Tense

Regular Verb (Kata kerja beraturan)
Irregular Verb (Kata kerja tidak beraturan)

Kata kerja beraturan atau regular verbs (V1+ed)

Allow : Allowed
Walk : Walked
Enter : Entered

Keterangan waktu

Keterangan waktu dipakai untuk melengkapi suatu kalimat. Ada beberapa keterangan waktu dalam past tense yang secara umum digunakan dan menunjukkan bahwa waktu tersebut sudah berlalu, misalnya, last year, last morning, last night, yesterday, two days ago, three weeks ago, dan lain sebagainya.
