Listening: Draw Conclusion

To draw a conclusion means to decide on something or make a judgement after careful consideration of facts and opinions presented.

To come to a conclusion requires logical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Conclusions are based on facts and information presented.

Words which are usually used to indicate that you need to draw conclusion:

deduce, infer, conclude, gather, reason

Now let's do a few practices on drawing conclusion

Read and understand the questions given before you listen to the audio

1. What does Jack tell his tutor about his course option on 'Women and Power'?

2. What does Jack tell his tutor about his course option on 'Culture and Society'?

3. We can infer that Jack is not interested in history.

It's taught by Dr Steed. Oh really? I'll sign up for that, then.

Anyway, I'll think about that one.

Jack did not say specifically that he is or not interested in history. Just,

"Anyway, I'll think about that one"
