Each player or team has a maximum of one bounce after the ball has been hit by their opponent to return the ball over the net and within the boundaries of the court.

When a player then fails to return the ball into the correct court, the opponent wins a point. 

One player will serve behind the baseline

The server must serve the ball over the net, into the opposite, smaller box known as the "service box"

The opponent will stand on the opposite side of the court ready to receive the serve.

You have to attempts or serves to get the ball in.

The stroke used to return balls hit to the right side of a right-handed player (or to the left side of a left-handed player).

Forehands are commonly hit one-handed.

The stroke used to return balls hit to the left side of a right-handed player (or to the right side of a left-handed player)

Backhands are hit either one-handed or two-handed.

GAME – The part of a set that is completed when one player wins four points and is at least two points ahead.

SET – A scoring unit awarded to a player who has won: (a) 6 or more games and has a two-game lead.

MATCH – The overall contest, usually decided by the best two-out-of-three sets.
