Between 1526 and 1867, as part of the Atlantic slave trade, more than 13 million Africans were kidnapped and taken overseas to the U.S. and other new world countries. Many people do not know that over those 13 million, only roughly 338,000 Africans actually ended up enslaved in the U.S.
