This question will drive this course. We are going to explore different lines of evidence that will help us understand how the wide array of life came to be, what kind of life have existed, and how life has changed.

Organism structures or traces, such as shells or teeth or bones, or imprints like the leaf shape, are preserved remains of ancient life that is found in rocks. We call these fossils. These fossil replicas are copies, cast from the actual fossil itself, then cut in half. The color is approximate.

Las estructuras o trazas del organismo, como conchas o dientes o huesos, o impresiones como la forma de la hoja, se conservan restos de vida antigua que se encuentran en las rocas.
