Equivalent expressions are expressions that have the same value, even though they make look different.

Properties of numbers allow us to rewrite or simplify expressions without changing the value of the expressions.

Each expression is made up of terms and operators. Types of terms include constants, variables, and coefficients.

The distributive property says we get the same answer if take the sum of two or more numbers in parentheses and multiply by a number as we do if we multiply each number separately and then add the products together.

We use the distributive property when we do mental math! (eg. 4 * 23 = 4*20 + 4 *3).
