Father Christmas

• The arrival of Father Christmas indicates that the White Witch’s spell (always winter and never Christmas) is breaking.

• Some (including Tolkien) feel that including Father Christmas was a bad idea because it mixed mythologies; furthermore, why would the celebration of Christ’s birth appear in Narnia?

The Witch's Disguise

• Some readers feel frustrated that we never see her use this power elsewhere and that it’s simply too convenient.

Aslan’s breath has special powers throughout Narnia; some think it may be a representation of the Holy Spirit.

He had witnessed the power of her wand previously when she turned the animals celebrating Christmas into stone, so he knew it was important to destroy her wand before trying to kill her so she would stop turning their army into stone.
