In the U.S., we have many kinds of natural disasters. Different parts of the country experience different kinds. On the coasts, there are often big storms like hurricanes, and in the south, there are often tornadoes. In Colorado we sometimes get blizzards in the winter, and these days, we have many wildfires in the summertime.

When the government wants to alert people to danger, they follow several steps. First, they put announcements on T.V. and on the radio. These announcements start with a very loud beeping sound to get people's attention. Second, they send text messages to people, especially if the disaster will cause a lot of damage. Finally, when it is very dangerous, sometimes professionals such as firefighters will go to every house and tell people to evacuate.
