Prefix
A prefix is a word that is added to the beginning of a base wo
A prefix changes the meaning of the base word
Example: "un-" which means "not" can change the meaning of the base word, "used"

Root
A word root forms the basic part of the word and gives it its primary meaning.
If you know the meaning of a root, you can often figure out the meaning of the whole word.
Example "-lum-" is the root word for illuminate
"-lum-" means "light"

Suffix
A suffix is a syllable of group of syllables added to the end of a base word"
The suffix changes the meaning and often the part of speech of the base word
Example "-less" which means "without" changes the meaning of the base word, "hope"
