Our goal is to get the letter (variable)by itself

We use opposite operations to remove terms from the same side of the equation as the variable

Entire terms are added or subtracted

Coefficients of our variable are divided.

Today, we will deal with a variable on both sides of the equal sign.

2x=-x+9 We can add x to both sides of the equal sign

3x=9 then solve by dividing by 3

2x - 12 = 24-2x first add 2x to both sides of the equal sign

4x-12=24 now, add 12 to both sides of the equal sign

4x=36 Then solve by dividing by 4

What if we have x on both sides with distribution and combining like terms?
