Think back to last week. We talked about a guy named John Locke (my favorite ;) ).

Do you remember anything about him?

Hobbes believed that people are naturally bad and that government has to force them to be good.

Locke believed that humans are naturally good and that government just needs to protect them from other people that have been corrupted.

Now tell me, who do you think was right? Are people naturally good or naturally evil?

Think back to last week and yesterday:

Have you ever heard of a Colony before? What do you think a colony is?

Do you feel like the signers of the Declaration did the right thing, even though they had so many bad things happen to them because of signing?

What would you have done? Signed it or walked away?

What did the colonists hate about the British government? What made them angry?

Now tell me. If YOU had just gained freedom from a government that was too powerful and doing bad things to you and your friends/family, would you create a strong government to replace it or would you want to create a weaker one that can't hurt you or boss you around?

The big thing I want you to remember about the Articles of Confederation is that they FAILED!
