- Covalent bonds share electrons

- They do not always share the electrons evenly.

- The atom has a stronger grip on the electrons is slightly more negative

- The atom that has a weaker grip will be slightly positive

- The ability of an atom to attract electrons

- More electronegative= able to attract electrons

- Less electronegative= not able to attract electrons

-The greek letter delta, δ, with a + or – shows the partial charge

-Also an arrow is used pointing towards the more electronegative (therefore slightly negative) element
