Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that can be placed over your tooth

The pulp or pulp chamber is the soft area within the center of the tooth and contains the nerve, blood vessels, and connective tissue

Dentin or dentine is a layer of material that lies immediately underneath the enamel of the tooth

Cementum is a specialized calcified substance covering the root of a tooth

Enamel- Hard calcified tissue covering the dentin in the crown of tooth

Tartar-a hard calcified deposit that forms on the teeth and contributes to their decay

Plaque-a sticky deposit on teeth in which bacteria proliferate

Gingivitis- A form of gum disease that causes inflamed gums

Root canal- the pulp-filled cavity in the root of a tooth

 Halitosis- technical term for bad breath

Gingiva- The gums

Amalgam-Dental filling material used to fill cavities caused by tooth decay

Calculus- crusty deposit that can trap stains on the teeth and cause discoloration

Periodontitis- A serious gum infection that damages gums and can destroy the jawbone

Malocclusion- The abnormal alignment of the upper and lower teeth

Orthodontists- dentists that specialize in the alignment of teeth, and provide services 

Dentist-A person who is qualified to treat diseases affecting the mouth, including your teeth and gums
