Roots - Exponential Expressions

I can evaluate expressions incorporating square and cube roots.

Taking the square/cube root is the inverse of squaring/cubing a number.

Each square has TWO square roots (one positive and one negative).

The radical symbol indicates the positive or principal square root.

 $\sqrt{\ \ \ \ }$  

For Example)  $\sqrt{25}=5\ and\ -5$  

Can also be written as  $\pm5$  

The negative square root will be indicated by the negative sign in front of the radical.

For Example)  $-\sqrt{16}=-4$  

A perfect square is a number that has two whole number integers as its square root.

For Example) 4, 9, and 16 are perfect squares.
