Let's look at how to divide the words into their syllables

human=hu/man

The first syllable is open because the 'u' does not have a consonant after it.

In the second syllable, the 'a' is closed. It is closed in by the consonants m and the n.

Remember consonants are every letter that is not a vowel (a, e, i, o, u)
