Since and For

Present perfect tense ช่วยให้เราสามารถระบุเวลาได้ โดยดูจาก ระยะเวลา ที่เกิดขึ้น ด้วยการใช้ for + ช่วงระยะเวลา หรือดูจากจุดเริ่มต้น ด้วยการใช้ since + จุดเวลาที่เจาะจง นอกจากนี้ ทั้ง FOR และ SINCE สามารถใช้ใน past perfect tense ได้อีกด้วย SINCE สามารถใช้ได้ใน perfect tenses เท่านั้น ในขณะที่ FOR สามารถใช้ได้ใน simple past tense อีกด้วย

For + ช่วงระยะเวลาfor six years, for a week, for a month, for hours, for two hours

I have worked here for five years.

Since + จุดเวลาที่เจาะจงsince this morning, since last week, since yesterday

since I was a child, since Wednesday, since 2 o'clock

I have worked here since 1990.
