Used to talk about a result which follows a particular action.

Main clause (will + verb(infinitive)) if clause (Present simple)

Used to predict the result of a future action.

If clause (Past simple), main clause (would/wouldn't + verb(infinitive))

Used to talk about imaginary situations or events and their result.

If people drank tap water, they wouldn't buy bottles.

In the if clause, we normally use were instead of was (singular) but we often use was in spoken English.

If the tap water were safe, I'd drink it.

It is the same as in the 0 and 1st conditional sentences.
