Andrew Jackson & the Second Bank of the United States

Andrew Jackson's veto of the charter of the Second Bank of the U.S set off a firestorm of protests. Many newspapers, especially in the East, vigorously opposed Jackson's action. It is no coincidence that those newspapers happened to be owned by some of the wealthiest people in the U.S who benefited most from the bank.
