an inequality describes a situation that has an infinite number of numerical possibilities.

In 5th grade, you used inequalities to compare whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

In 6th grade, we will add on to our 5th grade knowledge and use inequalities to represent real-world situations.

In 7th grade, you will be able to write multi step inequalities to represent situations.

 $X<12\$  this inequality might be a representation of "children younger than 12 years old"  

Whereas  $X\le12$  "children  12 years old or younger "
