To state the Jason is taller than Max, you would use the expression

más + adjetivo + que

The adjective would agree with the Jason because he is who we are comparing.

Jason es más alto que Max

• we use the word alto because Jason is a boy

• If I changed the word Jason to Elena, I would have to make my adjective agree with Elena....

Elena es más alta que Max

I used alta because I was describing Elena.

• Notice the translation... más gracioso que... literally it looks like more funny than... but in English we say funnier

• The same thing goes for más alto que.... more tall than actually means taller.

menos adjetivo que

• The opposite of más adjetivo que is MENOS

• Menos means less than..... the same rules apply for your adjective agreeing in gender in number with the first person or noun you are describing.

Note how both statements mean the same thing!!!

• Sr. Dugan es más alto que Sr. Canniff. means Mr. Dugan is more tall/taller than Mr. Canniff.

• Sr. Canniff es menos alto que Sr. Dugan means Mr. Canniff es less tall than Mr. Dugan

*Make sure that athletic agrees in gender and number with the first person/s noun/s being described
