What is the relationship between Multiplication and Division?
Inverse Operations or Opposite meaning they "undo" each other

How is the quotient of a division equation related to the unknown factor?
They are the same. (Example: 12 divided by 6 = 2. The quotient 2 is the SAME AS the missing factor in the related multiplication equation 6 x 2 = 12)

How do you know when to divide and when to multiply to solve a word problem?
If you want to find the total of all the equal groups, MULTIPLY.
If you want to find the number IN each equal group or how many equal groups - DIVIDE.
