Made of Amino Acids

Non ruminants need amino acids from proteins, ruminants break them down to nitrogen and other components.

The amount of Nitrogen in a feedstuff x 6.25.

Idespensable - Required in the animal's diet (can't be made by the animal in the needed quantity). These are required for maximum growth and health.

Other amino acids can be synthesized by the animal so we don't worry about them in the diet.

Made of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen.

Provide structure in the plant and store energy in the roots, tubers and grain.

In the animal they provide energy, while the fibrous parts cleanse and remove toxins from the digestive tract .
