The ability to use and recognise key terms is not just to help with answering the 1 mark questions, if you understand the key terms it means you should be able to understand all of the questions. You must also remember that you need to make sure that you can use the key terms in your own answers.

At the very least, this will show the examiner that you understand the topics and will help you gather in the SPaG marks, but it also shows depth and the ability to see the broader picture.

  • This can be a general religious teaching for example 'The Bible says that murder is wrong'.

  • It can also be a specific religious quote 'In Exodus, the 10 Commandments say 'Do not commit murder'.

  • Either way, it is always better not to show your ignorance. If you are not sure you have a quote, but you do know it is a teaching, you can still get the 1 mark allocated to this part of the answer just by saying it is a teaching as is shown in the example above.
